| Awkward farmer | |
|
In puzzles you often have awkward farmers who wish to do something strange with their inheritance. This particular farmer left his farm to be divided equally between his four sons. They would inherit if, and only if, they could divide the square meadow shown to the left between them in such a way that they each had the same sized and shaped plot and in such a way that they each had an oak tree (shown by the circles) in their plot. How could they manage to satisfy the conditions of their father's will?
